These options apply to all students of any of the national programs that the Foundation is supporting. The Foundation has researched possible sources of financial assistance for you from outside sources. The Foundation strongly recommends that you contact one or more of the following:
Contact your school officials including your school Principal, Student Council President, District Superintendent, or the Chairperson of the School District Board of Directors. Many schools and school districts financially support EWC Students.
The Royal Canadian Legion
The Royal Canadian Legion has been a strong supporter of The Sea Cadet, The Army Cadets, The Air Cadets, The Encounters With Canada Program, and The Young Citizens Foundation since the inception of each of these organizations.
Click on the ‘Provincial Commands’ tab at the top. Click on the ‘LEGION BRANCHES / COMMANDS’ banner in the middle of the page. Click on your Province or Territory and then click on your city.
Rotary has approximately 33,000 Clubs in over 200 countries and political regions around the world. To find the nearest club to you click here and in the first box, type in your city and province. A list of the clubs in the area will appear.
Lions Clubs International is a large service organization. With 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries, there’s probably a Lions Club near you. To find a Lions Club near you click here. In the ‘Search Box’, type in the name of your city and province and a list of the clubs in your area will appear.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. To find a Kiwanis Club in your area, click here. In the ‘My location’ box, type in the name of your city and province. The contact information a club in your area will appear.
Fraternal Order of Eagles Clubs
The Fraternal Order of Eagles has Aeries (clubs) in over 1700 cities across the United States and Canada. To find an Eagles Club near you, click here and follow the directions.
Contact a prominent company in your city.
Important: For each organization that you are applying to:
- Contact the organization and ask for the contact information for the person to whom you should send the request letter.
- Send a well written letter stating:
- your contact information;
- the reason for your request;
- a description of the program that you want to attend;
- the benefit that you will receive as a result of attending the program;
- the amount of your financial request;
- your willingness to speak to their member about your experience and to publicly thank the organization.
