The Encounters with Canada Support Foundation (now The Young Citizens Foundation) was a significant sponsor  of the Encounters With Canada Program at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.  It joined other distinguished collaborators such as the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and 2010 Legacies Now.   The Foundation will supplied forty participants and four staff with jackets, shirts, hats and scarves to be worn during the games.

“One of the goals of the Encounters with Canada Support Foundation is to financially support the EWC participants” said Gary Bennett, President of the Encounters with Canada Support Foundation. “We are very excited about providing a fine collection of Olympic clothing and official paraphernalia to each EWC Olympic participant to help them enjoy and remember this wonderful, once in a lifetime, experience”

The 40 participants will attend sporting and cultural events, such as hockey, figure skating and nightly Victory Ceremonies, during either the first week of the Olympic Winter Games in February or the Paralympic Winter Games in March. After attending these events, they will record and write daily about their own personal experiences at the Games and will also have the chance to interview retired Olympian and Paralympian stars, artists and Games’ officials.
