For over 100 years, Scouts Canada has provided outdoor focused, educational programs to over 60,000 Canadian youth. As our country’s largest youth organization, Scouts Canada is supported and made possible by the more than 20,000 dedicated adult volunteers from every province and territory who actively participate.
Scouts Canada provides a platform for children and youth to gain experiences and discover new things including (but certainly not limited to) international travel, whitewater rafting, rock climbing and environmental stewardship. They are an adventure-based program with a mission to help develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world – an opportunity for youth to discover the best in themselves as well as in others. At its core, Scouting builds leaders – helping young people find their way forward, matching skills with their interests, and ensuring that youth receive the support and guidance that they require in order to build better futures.
As a highly diverse organization, Scouts Canada offers programming in multiple languages, reflecting Canada’s multicultural landscape and communities. Their core programs include:

The mission of The Young Citizens Foundation is to assist young Canadians to grow and mature as committed, knowledgeable and contributing Canadian citizens. We know that Scouts Canada develops leadership skills, exposes students to the various citizenship ideals that the country values, and provides positive mentoring.
The provision of post-secondary scholarships to selected participants is important so that these students, who have developed these positive attitudes, will continue their education so that they can achieve positions of leadership in their communities, regionally and nationally.
The Young Citizens Foundation and its Board of Directors and the Vancouver Foundation, want to congratulate Mateo Mejia Duff as the 2018 Young Citizenship Foundation Scholarship Award winner.
